I honestly forgot how difficult it can be to go skateboarding. This weekend the whole team met up so we could get crackin on a little project we have in the works. Pedro had big plans for the infamous Carlsbad Gap, but as you can see, the pigs weren't with it.

Larelle's grill was certainly the catalyst that prompted the cops to ask him three times about prior arrests.

Kevin Booker had a serious tooth ache.

Little Nick Tucker had to make sure the fit was fresh. Nick doesn't drink by the way. Isn't he precious?

Quick stop at Lola's, an apparent monument to Cbad locals...

Then it was off this spot where you can flip a lunch table down a 5 stair and skate the rails on the bottom. Larelle was all over this one, but we got booted before we even set up.

This spot had serious potential, but the ground was sandy ass a mother fucker and the ledges had been freshly sanblasted. Zero for three at this point...

Finally we ran into some luck at this handrail. This beast is the largest threat to testicles I've ever seen. It's tall as shit and it's super mellow. Dom got down, Drod got super down, and Biz gave Pedro the MVP for pulling an unexpected heater. That my friends was a wrap. Stay tuned for the fruits of this weekend's labor.

Freudian Kicks from Norway is a new store that Orisue has been working with. They carry some really nice high end apparel, and some more street based stuff as well. There website can be viewed here, however, it is strictly Norwegian for the time being. By summer they plan to have the website fully global. Check it out! It's pretty crazy to see different types of clothing stores across the globe.

We're not that cool, so people don't really send us cool shit. Its okay though because the only thing we really want anyways is good music. Besides our homie's over at Tapemasters Inc. always keeping us laced, Mike at Motivation sent us over some mixtapes that Mic Boogie has been working on. Shouts to both Tapemasters and Motivation.

We're all a little scared that Michael has lost his mind in China. His latest blog entries have just been photographs of Kentucky Fried Chicken and Chinese beef platters. His captions have become senseless ramblings. To make the glass half full however, we're celebrating Michael's worst three blogs of the week!
3-

"Always good in the morning. Two eggs in the morning... leads TO a good day... .. . .. ... Get it?... Get it? Shit..."
No... I don't get it. I guess there is some correlation between the number "2" and the word "to"??? Would anyone on the planet find this comical? If there is someone out there in internet land that can prove to me that they thought that paradox of Michael's international dementia was funny, I'll send you a Tshirt. I want an actual YouTube video of you reading it and laughing, and don't try and fake it, cause I am trained to detect such fallacy... And to smell fear.
2-

"I didn't expect a lot of people in such a small town, but there were skyscrappers and McDonalds... Yes, McDonalds."
LULZ! Did homie just call China a small town? Better yet, did he just say he didn't expect a lot of people there? Mikey... China is smaller than the US but has 5 times the population. Some of those skyscrapers are actually single family homes.
1-

"Shilong sort of looks like NYC's Time Square on a rainy day at night, well.. to me"
Oh snap! Read that shit to yourself several times. The paradoxical blather is mind bogglingly blasphemous! Come home Michael... We're concerned.

The good people over at Sabre Vision had their big opening Friday night of their new project they have been working on, Dont Panic. Dont Panic is the name of their new retail located on 32nd Street in Newport Beach. So Allen, Michael, Ricky, Wally and myself went to check it out. I was really excited to see the finished product of the store because Brooke and Tabitha (Sabre) were telling us about their crazy ideas. Let the pictures speak for themselves, and dont forget to check out the new store!

Clean

What looks like were once windows, are now covered with a collage of pictures of the crazy Sabre family.

Not just sunglasses, but clothing too!

You can see their theme. BLACK!

Some new optics!

The main attraction, the King's Throne! With a fountain that disperses CLEAN drinking water.

Allen with Tabitha

Wally enjoying some hor dourves.

Allen, is that a tattoo?

One of the rewards of going to China is having the experience to try different and "real" Chinese food because I would never prefer Chinese food in the states due to its authenticity. Kung Pao chicken? Mongolian beef? Orange chicken? What the heck? Screw that! Give me the real stuff, man.

Hahaha, I know you guys are tired of seeing the same breakfast dish. Its what happens when you get free complimentary breakfast hahaha ( ;

A good day starts out with a good breakfast, well this is MY breakfast ( ;

This is the asian version of porridge

Always good in the morning. Two eggs in the morning... leads TO a good day... .. . .. ... Get it?... Get it? Shit...

Lets set up shop. Our factory put us in an A/C room, thank god! Otherwise we'd sit like stones and try not to move

See what work + humidity in China can do to you?

And you feel like you can't get out...

After a crazy day at work, we always end it with a nice dinner, southern style

Holy shit?

I feel... majestic, puahaha

Look how deep the hallway is!

Chicken... not duck, dorks

Wendy thought it would be amusing if she did that... so wrong

Beef, I think

Ugh, eel... Literally ewwww....

The most safe food for foreigners in China, tofu

Pork

Fish

Custard cake... one of the best I've had

And it makes you do this...

And take this type of photo

I don't get it! Why do people put cherry tomatoes on a fruit dish?!?! So you have apples, watermelons, and then tomatoes. Huh? it doesn't even taste the same! More so, its not even a fruit is it? Its like putting broccolis and oranges on the same plate and expect you to eat it together... And they do this EVERYWHERE...

After dinner we did a little shopping... But I don't know if we're welcome to this particular store

I didn't expect a lot of people in such a small town, but there were skyscrappers and McDonalds... Yes, McDonalds

And you know whats even more messed up? It tastes 10x better than in the U.S. They even have the Spicy Chicken sandwich on the menu!

No, not a McDonalds... but a big franchise in China - Like 7-Eleven of China

Big chain clothing store in China

You betcha, KFC with REAL CHICKEN

Well thats all folks... until tomorrow. More photos, why? Its a Friday!!!

Recently, I was given the opportunity to work on a new project with Sabre Vision. I wanted to focus solely on the way that i like to make shirts... Without the use of any outside images or premade fonts. I remembered how much fun and how fulfilling it was to make a graphic strictly with the use of a pencil and paper.
Of all my influences from the world of skateboard design, the standout for me is JIM PHILLIPS. Phillips was the artist behind many of Santa Cruz Skateboard's legendary graphics, and was my inspiration for this collaboration.
Jim's Freehand Sketch of the screaming hand graphic for Santa Cruz -

Here are some shots from the development of this graphic
1. Drawing the graphic

2. Scanning the image

3. Cleaning up the image on the computer (I know, I know, not the classic way of doing things but a necessary step)

4. Off to the printers

to be continued...

You want to know who El Presidente De Orisue right? Don't ya?...

What is your name, age and position at Orisue?
Allen Doan, President. I am 23 years old.
OK, stopping right there... Orisue has been around for how long now?
Orisue has been in business since January 2006.
So you were 20-21 when this company began, which in any industry is pretty fucking young. Did other brands take your lunch money, challenge you to fights after tradeshows, black ball accounts or do other acts of random jerkness?
Hell yes. Starting a business at that age, it's hard to get respect from anyone in any industry. Ironically, 99% of the hater brands were out of commission a season later.
So what do you attribute the success of Orisue thus far to? Or is it even successful in your own eyes?
Orisue is far from being successful in my eyes. Comparing us to all those large companies, it's hard to deem what we do as a success. If you consider what we've accomplished so far as “success”, then I would attribute that to our hard work and dedication.

When I first met you and Michael Wang, all I could say to myself was "Holy Fuck". Do you get that reaction from a lot of people? You two are really fucking weird.
I don't know what you're talking about (laughs). But yes... People have said we're quite odd. It's not even us though... it's the whole company. I hear it a lot, "Man, those Orisue guys!!"
When we first met up, we went and got some food and you ordered a glass of wine. I thought that was weird. It's like exactly the opposite of ordering a Sam Adams and trying to look cool. It's like your blatantly and successfully trying to look uncool, but not the type of uncool that ends up making you look cool... You know?
Did I really order wine? I don't remember what I ordered, but I really like wine. I like getting drunk and wine was my poison that evening. What do you want from me?
Do you feel like you might be inspiring other Koreans to apply themselves to business?
I'm not Korean, but I would hope I inspire anyone that's young or old to do something with themselves… I'm Vietnamese by the way.

Explain some of the day to day operations inside the office. It baffles me that business takes place in there, considering that litttle gay dog is running around, there are 5 interns for every one man position, and Michael Chang is usually runnning a muck. Does legitimate business really happen?
Sure it does... We’re all young individuals apart of this company and that’s ingrained in our culture. Having fun, yet working hard is important. I get up everyday at 7am and am in the office by 8am. By my example, the majority of our team gets in shortly after me and a lot stay later working. After 5pm is when the bottles pop, and smoke is in the air.
Who is the most annoying person in the office?... You have to say a name, and you cant say the little gay dog.
I'd have to say I am. When people don't get their work done I can sure be annoying... either that or violent.
I was reading an interview on the internets, I believe Michael Hung was the subject… There was something about Orisue formerly being a non profit? Can you explain that?
It was a cute idea Mike had a long time ago that was quickly crushed by the REALITY OF BEING BROKE!
It seems like a lot of Mike’s ideas are cute, but don't really make sense in the real world. Is this the case with most designers?
I think all designers have tons of crazy ideas that will probably never make sense in the real world, but that's their job. It just takes one great idea out of many bad ideas to make something a success.

If you could turn on the TV right now and see any celebrity wearing an Orisue shirt, who would it be?
Barack Obama.
You openly voting for Obama?
YES. Are you registered to vote?
Any final words for the fans of Orisue, Koreans, Brazilians or Michael Chang?
ORISUE IS FOR THE HUNGRY.
