MICHAEL'S POV September 22, 2008

Yeah, its about that time again… another Hong Kong and China trip to submit our new season designs. And every time I go back, I always bring someone new. This time I brought our designer Brad along for the experience. I don’t know what kind of experience it could possibly be when you’re stuck in a drenching humid weather and all you can eat Chinese food. But I guess the fun part of it all is the thrill of being in another country and being half way around the world, in a country where ANYTHING could happen and the hands on training of how things work in the clothing business, from developing color charts, to trend forecasting, then to CAD outline drawings of the silhouettes, to applying materials to proto sampling, just everything in the process, we see it all… here.

But I decided to ruin my fun and brought hell with me, my partner Allen… aka King Doan. Does that tell you what kind of obedience, torture and circumstances I’d be under? Wait a minute… we (Brad and I) would be under? You betcha. In response to Allen’s previous blog about Brad and I tied on a baby leash, well… its sort of true… but really isn’t. I guess when you’re designers, we have this very freeform and unorthodox way of doing things. We would do steps 1 and 2 and skip 3 to go to 4 and 5. And then we forget to do 3? But as long as we get it done, that’s all it matters? Well Allen hates that. He has a step process and structure of doing things and wants it done properly. So this time around, Allen is responsible for making sure things will get done and utilize this trip to its maximum purpose and potential. What can I say? The dude wants it together.

Since Brad and Allen are going to be snapping photos during this whole 18 day trip, I decided to step up on technology and going to video cam the trip instead with my Mino Flipcam (lame excuse for not being able to write good captions). Its pretty neat, considering it weighs no more than a snicker bar and costs less than $150 bucks and has 1/2 the quality of an HD camera. Well, not exactly… but still good enough for you POV lovers.

Anyway, check out my videos below… lame or not, they are still my POV videos ( ;

Youtube's quality sucked so I started to upload to Vimeo hahahaha
